the oldtimers used to correct us oldtimers when we were the kids on the proper name of the device known to them as the plectrum...furthermore they claimed that a string was not "picked", it was "stroked"

"rest" stroke - finger strikes the string then follows through to rest on the next string (for volume and control on single note runs or as a duet in conjunction with thumb struck bass notes)

"free" stroke - the finger strikes the string and stops in midair ahead of the next string (less attack and control, but the strings of chords and arpeggios can vibrate freely)

and "up" and "down" strokes for plectrums (self explanatory)

no shit

no, wine makes me feel kinda sick, besides, i prefer the taste of the micro-brew

i'm no expert on the subject, but find it difficult to conceive that people are saying, "blah blah blah. you're probably really into music too.", when responding to answers to their own questions while attending wine tasting functions

But hey, stranger things can (and apparently do) happen.

Yes, stranger things do indeed happen. So it's micro-brews then. I knew you had to have some other affectations hiding in there.
